About Me
Hi! I'm Victoria.
I had a pretty rough introduction to parenthood. I was desperate to be a mum for as long as I can remember, but after multiple losses, it seemed the universe had other plans. Falling pregnant with my daughter in 2023 was a (very welcome) unexpected shock, especially considering I'd recently been diagnosed with Autism and ADHD.
I had a difficult pregnancy, with a lacklustre midwife, gastroparesis, aggressive kidney infection, IUGR and suspected preeclampsia that was never investigated. Birth was worse, with a lengthy induction that resulted in 3 silent abruptions and an emergency c-section.
I'm diagnosed AuDHD, have hEDS and endometriosis. I'm a survivor of domestic abuse, stalking, harassment and SA. I had PPD & PPA. I spent most of my life feeling like I was too much but also not enough, not understanding anything about who I was until I was diagnosed with autism and ADHD at 29.
My breastfeeding journey was fraught with difficulty, unable to access skilled support & constantly receiving conflicting advice. I spent the first 5-6 weeks sobbing through every feed, my nipples black, blue and bleeding. My daughters tongue-tie was ignored, her reflux and allergies dismissed by doctors and medicated without a consultation. After introducing solids, her allergies flared once again and she showed signs of Sandifer Syndrome. Once again dismissed, the doctor more concerned with my autism and past anxiety than the 12 weeks of bloody stools and discomfort my daughter was experiencing.
I'm stubborn and determined, so I spent every moment I could researching and arming myself with information. I advocated for my daughter, got her tongue-tie divided, eliminated dairy and (to no one's surprise) our struggles subsided. My nipples healed and her reflux was almost non-existant. With her later allergies, we saw a private specialist dietician, who confirmed FPIAP & multiple allergies.
All of this to say, I see you, because I am you. My experiences lit a fire in me and I decided to dedicate my life to educating and supporting others in similar situations.
It's nice to meet you 🫶
